Introduction

The training of youths was initiated by ANVL Tractor Academy with the aim of making young people become Agricultural Service Providers (ASP).
The training is in collaboration with African Leadership Forum (ALF).
After completion, each participant will register a business name and apply to CBN for the empowerment loan for equipment purchase and working capital under the CBN AGSMEIS fund.

Objective of the training
This proposal is aimed at creating self-employment opportunities for youths in the agricultural sector. This training of youths on operation and maintenance of farm machineries such as the power tiller and tractors as well as their implements will enhance greater profitability and productivity for farmers who will benefit from their land preparation services.

Justification for the training
  • Training on agricultural machinery operation is to develop and make skilled power tiller, tractors and other agricultural equipment operators available.
  • Trainees will be exposed to skill acquisition on tillage and post tillage operations such as; seed planting, knapsack and boom spraying etc.

    Module 1

    Agronomy of some selected crops
    (This will vary depending on the Ecological zone from where trainees hail from)

    Module 2 & 3

    Tractor identification, specification and interpretation.
    Safety precautions and control.

    Module 4 & 5

    Implement identification including parts, Functions and maintenance.
    Carry out daily maintenance checks, starting and stopping.

    Module 6, 7 & 8

    Tractor driving – forward and reverse motion,
    Coupling and decoupling of implement, Field operation - Tillage – ploughing, harrowing and ridging.

    Module 9, 10 & 11

    Use of tractor trailer – reversing with trailer, Use of planter and crop protection equipment, Operation and maintenance of garden implements such as Brush
    Cutters, Hedge Trimmers, Pruners and Motorized Sprayers.

    Module 12, 13 & 14

    Tractor and implement care – maintenance and end of season Storage, Troubleshooting, Record keeping – use of tractor log book.

    ALF will Provide resource persons for training on CBN Entrepreneurial Curriculum. Assist trainees to prepare their Business Plans.

    Enrollment & Entry Qualification

    The minimum entry qualification is WASC, There is no tuition fee for this training. Participants will purchase an application form for N5,000 (Five thousand Naira) from ANVL Tractor Academy office or at participating commercial banks.
